In vivo 1 H NMR spectroscopy of the developing rat hippocampus

چکیده
Methods: Neonatal rats (n = 5, 7-28 days old) were anesthetized by -chloralose and fixed to a specifically designed holder. The volume of interest (3 x 2 x 4 mm) was centered in the left hippocampus. H NMR spectra were measured at 400 MHz (9.4T) on a Varian/Magnex spectrometer using an ultra-short echo-time STEAM sequence (TE = 2 ms) with VAPOR water suppression and outer volume saturation [5]. Firstand second-order shimming was performed with a fully adiabatic version of FASTMAP [6]. Metabolite concentrations including macromolecules were quantified by LCModel as described previously [7] and RF power calibration was used to correct for coil loading effects.

Effects of Tamoxifen on Morphological and Ultrastructural Aspects of Developing Hippocampus of Rat
Background: Tamoxifen treatment induced cell death in the hippocampus formation of the prenatal and postnatal rat. The present study delineates the effect of tamoxifen on developing hippocampus in prenatal, postnatal and full term neonate rats received certain doses of the partial antagonist tamoxifen. Methods: After perfusion and fixation, the brains were removed and processed for light and e...
متن کاملMorphometrical Study of Polysialylated Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule Positive Cells in Rat Pups Hippocampus Following Induction of Seizure during Pregnancy
Background:The polysialylated neural cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM) is expressed in developing brain. Fetal brain damage is caused by different conditions such as seizure and hypoxia. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of maternal seizures on the number of PSA-NCAM positive cells in pup's hippocampus. Methods: Female Wistar rats were divided into four groups: (a) kindle...
متن کاملLong term effects of recurrent hyperglycemia on hippocampal neurochemistry in developing rats
INTRODUCTION Recurrent hyperglycemia (HG, plasma glucose [Glc]plasma > 150 mg/dL) is a common metabolic problem in preterm infants with gestational age below 26 weeks. Acute neurological complications, such as intracranial hemorrhage are associated with hyperglycemia in this population. The long-term effects of recurrent hyperglycemia on the developing brain are not well known. The aim of this ...
متن کاملMeasurement of the Effects of Different Anesthetics in the Rat Thalamus by in vivo H NMR Spectroscopy at 16.4T
Introduction Localized in vivo H NMR spectroscopy in the rat brain has demonstrated alterations in the concentrations of metabolites, mainly glucose, under various anesthetic agents. A high dose of pentobarbital showed significantly decreased glucose in the rat brain compared with rats under isoflurane anesthesia [1]. Similarly, a substantial increase of glucose was reported in rat cortex under...
متن کاملNeurochemical changes in the developing rat hippocampus during prolonged hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia is common during development and is associated with the risk of neurodevelopmental deficits in human infants. The effects of hypoglycemia on the developing hippocampus are poorly understood. The sequential changes in energy substrates, amino acids and phosphocreatine were measured from the hippocampus during 180 min of insulin-induced hypoglycemia (blood glucose < 2.5 mmol/L) in 14...
